Open 24 hours
is an energy decision

24/7 access changed the gym business and it changed the gym power bill. A club that never closes has no overnight trough to fall into, and climate control that once ran for twelve hours a day now runs for twenty-four.

What drives the bill

The load profile of a fitness site

Before anyone quotes you a rate, it is worth being clear about what your site actually does with electricity — because that, not the headline number, is what decides whether a plan fits.

Access hours became load hours

A 24/7 club carries lighting, ventilation and climate control through the night for a handful of members — a standing cost the old opening-hours model never had.

HVAC dominates

In a fitness space, heating, cooling and ventilation are usually the largest single draw, and comfort is not somewhere you can economise without losing members.

Cinemas are the opposite shape

Long idle periods punctuated by heavy projection and climate load through sessions — a spiky profile that sits very differently against a time-of-use structure.

Clubs multiply

Fitness groups tend to open sites steadily, and each new site arrives with its own separately-negotiated connection.

The overnight question

For a 24-hour club, the honest question is not whether to close — it is what actually needs to be running at 3am. Full lighting and full climate control across an entire floor for a handful of members is a different proposition from keeping the space usable and safe.

Some of that is an equipment and controls conversation rather than a contract one, and we will say so when it is. But the part that is a contract conversation is real: overnight consumption sits in a different part of most time-of-use structures, and a club with genuine round-the-clock load should be priced with that in front of everyone.

Groups and the site-by-site problem

Fitness groups have the same shape as retail chains. Sites opened in different years on different arrangements in different lines areas, and no single view of the group. The work is the same too: get the connections onto one picture, then close the gap between the best and worst of them.

Where we look first

The review, in order

  • Overnight base load priced against your access hours rather than assumed
  • HVAC as the dominant draw, and how it sits in a time-of-use structure
  • Session-driven spiky load for cinema and entertainment sites
  • Every club in a group compared against every other
  • Water and waste for sites with significant shower and changing facilities

Questions

What fitness operators ask us

Yes, and it is one of the places we are most useful. Multi-site operators usually have connections that were signed up at different times, on different price categories, in different lines areas, all landing as separate bills. Consolidating those ICPs onto a single arrangement — and getting one view of what the whole group actually spends — is core work for us, not an edge case.

Because part of every commercial power rate is a delivery charge set by the lines company for your area, and lines areas price differently from one another. Two identical cafes on identical usage, one in one region and one in another, do not pay the same rate — and a national average hides that entirely. Our rate lookup is keyed to your ICP’s own network and price category, so what you see is the rate that applies to your connection.

Our fees, and any retailer commissions, are disclosed and agreed in writing before any switch. You will not find a charge you have not already seen written down and agreed to. If a number would surprise you later, it belongs in front of you now.

Yes. We review your plans as the market moves rather than switching you once and leaving you on a rate that quietly ages. A rate that was sharp two years ago usually is not sharp today, and the whole point of having a broker is that somebody is watching that for you.
