You do not need your contract, your account manager, or a copy of anything. One recent power bill has all three of these on it.

15 letters and numbers, printed on your power bill. It identifies the physical connection at your site — not your retailer — so it stays the same when you switch.

The arithmetic, in the open
Most savings calculators will not tell you how they got their number, which is usually because the number came from a percentage somebody chose. Here is exactly what ours does.
We look up your connection
Your ICP tells us which network your site sits on and which price category the connection is actually rated at. Those two things decide which commercial rates are genuinely available to you — and they are the reason a postcode-based comparison cannot answer this question.
We build the new cost from real rates
Your monthly usage is priced at the variable rate for your price category, and the fixed daily charge is applied across all 365 days of the year — because it runs whether you are trading or not. Our service fee is added on top, disclosed rather than buried.
We put both sides on the same footing
Commercial rates are quoted excluding GST. Your bill is not. So the new cost is grossed up by 15% before anything is compared, because comparing an ex-GST rate against a GST-inclusive bill is the easiest way in the business to make a saving look 15% bigger than it is.
We compare it to what you actually pay
Your current side is simply the monthly figure you gave us, annualised. We deliberately do not assume you are already on a discount — that assumption would make every estimate look better and would be a guess about your contract we have no right to make.

An estimate that oversells itself is worth less than no estimate, because the moment the real number arrives you stop believing anything else on the page. So:

It is built on the rates available for your connection and the usage figures you gave us. Change either and the number changes. Final figures are confirmed in writing before anything is signed.
- It will not manufacture a saving
If your current rate already beats what we can put in front of you, the tool says exactly that instead of rounding a nil result into a win. That outcome is built in on purpose.
- It is not financial advice
It is a cost comparison. Savings are estimates and may vary.
A result link would have to carry your ICP to be reproducible, and an ICP resolves to a supply address and a current retailer. That is your business’s data, and it is not going in a URL that could be forwarded, logged or indexed. Share this page instead — whoever opens it runs their own numbers on their own connection.

ICP stands for Installation Control Point. It is the unique 15-character code — letters and numbers — for the physical electricity connection at your site. You will find it printed on your power bill, usually near the top, under a heading like "ICP" or "Installation number". It identifies the connection rather than the retailer, so it stays the same when you switch. That is exactly why we ask for it: it lets us look up the network and price category that genuinely apply to your site instead of guessing from your postcode.

Yes, the comparison is. Commercial rates are quoted excluding GST, so we gross the new cost up by 15% before comparing it to the GST-inclusive total on your bill. Comparing an ex-GST rate against a GST-inclusive bill is one of the easiest ways to make a saving look 15% bigger than it is, and we do not do it.
Because part of every commercial power rate is a delivery charge set by the lines company for your area, and lines areas price differently from one another. Two identical cafes on identical usage, one in one region and one in another, do not pay the same rate — and a national average hides that entirely. Our rate lookup is keyed to your ICP’s own network and price category, so what you see is the rate that applies to your connection.
